Chef jackets – from the manufacturer to the people who wear them.

Atelier Nordwind sells workwear to restaurants and hotels – to consumers through its own webshop and to business customers at trade prices. We follow one chef jacket from the manufacturer order through the shop to a made-to-measure order for a hotel – in both variants: „AA-Konfektion“ (a standard size adjusted by two measurements, armpit to armpit and length) and full body measurements.

Week 1 Monday

Ordering from the manufacturer

For the new season, Atelier Nordwind is adding the double-breasted Kochjacke Hamburg chef jacket to its range. Anna orders 120 jackets from Textilwerk Lausitz: 80 in white and 40 in black, sizes XS to XXL. Instead of typing 12 separate lines, she enters the quantities into a color-by-size matrix.

Week 3 Thursday

The goods arrive – almost complete

The manufacturer delivers 108 jackets; black in L and XL will follow a week later. Anna turns the purchase order into a goods receipt, corrects the two lines and posts it. The order matching shows what is still outstanding. When the invoice arrives, she enters the invoice number and date – and the purchase price is saved to the product.

Week 3 Friday

One product, three prices

Mira gets the jacket ready for sale: a photo for each color, a consumer price of €49.90 incl. VAT, a trade price of €34.90 net, and €32.90 from 10 pieces. One toggle puts it in the shop. And because the jacket comes in sizes, business customers can automatically order it as AA-Konfektion, too – all Mira has to add is the €9.50 surcharge and the delivery time.

The first sale – on a Sunday evening

A home cook in Bremen orders a white jacket in size M and pays by card. He receives the invoice as a PDF right away, and stock for white/M drops by one – in the warehouse and in the shop. On Monday, Anna sees the order in NextRB Unternehmer and ships it.

Week 5 Tuesday

The hotel logs in – and sees trade prices

Hotel Seeblick on the island of Sylt is a business customer. Jana Brandt logs in to the shop with her email address and receives a one-time code – no password needed. Instantly, all prices are shown net. She adds 12 jackets in standard sizes to her cart, and the volume price kicks in. Three of her colleagues don’t fit any standard size – that’s the next step.

Made-to-measure, the quick way: AA-Konfektion

For Tom, Lena and Mehmet, Jana lays a well-fitting jacket flat on a table and measures it: armpit to armpit (AA) and from the shoulder to the hem. In the shop, she picks the color and base size, then types in the name, AA and length – the sketch displays the values as she goes. For Mehmet, she adds the note „Ärmel bitte 3/4“ (3/4 sleeves, please). Three pieces, three names, one request.

And for the head chef: made to his body measurements

Head chef Jan Petersen wants the Chefjacke Premium jacket – cut exactly to fit him, with an embroidered chest pocket. For this jacket, Mira has set up the detailed variant: height, chest, waist, shoulders, sleeves and back, with required fields and permitted ranges. Jana enters the measurements for him and his deputy and submits the request – no payment required.

Weeks 5 – 9 from quote to invoice

The request becomes an order – with every measurement

In NextRB Unternehmer, two draft quotes are waiting, tagged „Maß-Anfrage“ (Made-to-measure request), with prices already suggested. Anna adds the embroidery, finalizes the quotes and sends them. Jana accepts both quotes online. Each piece’s measurements appear in plain language on its line item – on the order confirmation, delivery note and invoice – and that’s how they go to the manufacturer, too. Later, Jana finds the invoices in the customer portal, and in the spring she reorders the standard-size jackets there with a single click.
